This page explains what information we process when you use FastCarCheck.dk, why we do it, and what rights you have.

What the service does
When you enter a number plate, we show data about the car from the Danish Motor Register (Motorregistret) — open data from the Danish Motor Vehicle Agency (Motorstyrelsen): technical data, registration status, the latest inspection and odometer reading, blocks, leasing and previous number plates. We also show technical specifications and likely paint codes from our own catalogue.
We do not receive or show any information about the car’s owner — no name, address or CPR number.
Number plates are personal data
The Danish Data Protection Agency (Datatilsynet) considers that a number plate can be personal data, because it can lead to the person who owns the car. We therefore treat number plate lookups under data protection law.
Our legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interests): helping buyers of used cars check a car before they buy it.
Report pages for individual number plates are not indexed by search engines.
What we record about you
- The number plate you search for. It is sent to our server so we can fetch data about the car.
- Technical server logs: IP address, time, the address of the page you visit (URL) and information about your browser (user agent). We use them for security and to keep the site running. Logs are deleted after 14 days.
- Emails to [email protected]. We keep them for as long as we need to reply to you.
There are no user accounts, and the service is currently free — we receive no payment details.
Who receives the information
We use two data processors:
- Cloudflare — delivers the site through its network (CDN), protects it against bots and provides cookie-free visitor statistics (Cloudflare Web Analytics). Transfers are based on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (SCC) and the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
- DigitalOcean — servers and database in London, United Kingdom.
Transfers to the United Kingdom are based on the European Commission’s adequacy decision for the UK.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- access the information we hold about you
- have incorrect information corrected
- have information deleted
- restrict processing
- object to processing (Article 21)
Email [email protected] to use any of these rights.
Do you own the car? You can ask us to hide the report for your number plate. Email [email protected] with the number plate and proof that you own the car.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Danish Data Protection Agency (datatilsynet.dk) or to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
About the data in the reports
Motor Register data comes from the Danish Motor Vehicle Agency, and we show it as it is. Technical specifications and paint codes are our best estimate — which is why we call them “likely” — not a guarantee.
